Uniting the Global Tiv Community in Culture and Tradition

Mdzough U Tiv is the apex socio-cultural organization of the Tiv people, one of the largest ethnic groups in Nigeria, primarily located in Benue State.

In the Tiv language, “Mdzough” literally means “togetherness” or “union.” Therefore, the full name translates to “The Union of the Tiv People.”

The Tiv are a Tivoid ethnic group from Nigeria, West Africa, celebrated for our agricultural prowess. Benue State—home to many Tiv people—is proudly known as the “Food Basket of Nigeria,” a testament to our deep-rooted connection to the land and vital role in national food security.

But the Our story goes far beyond farming. Education is a cornerstone of our community, with many Tiv individuals excelling in academia and earning advanced degrees. This pursuit of knowledge reflects a commitment to personal growth and collective progress, showcasing our community’s adaptability and success across diverse fields.
